My Life Story: A teaching tip for Language Arts Methods

Growing up with my father and brother always introducing me to new things, I fell in love with music. I always remembered listening to my yellow radio with rubber buttons on it that I placed right next to my bed. Mostly, I would listen to Country, but then there were times I liked to listen to Oldies, like The Beatles, and the Kinks. My brother would burst into my bedroom and turn my radio to the nearest rock station. I always hated rock music, it gave me a headache! Considering that my dad played the drums in the house, and my brother would blare his music daily, I still kept to my own choice in music. Now I look back and laugh at how opposed to rock music I was. That is who I am and what I listen to now.
When I hear music, I feel extremely passionate about it. Records and CD’s can all be good in a certain way, but I always say that there is a difference with good music and great music. I prefer vinyl over CDs, but that’s another story. I consider great music something you will always remember. I listen to certain records of mine and I can tell you exactly where I was when I first head that record, what the weather was like, where I was going, and so fourth. It gives me a rush, and that moment of clarity I will never forget. Music can take me away into a different world where every worry is shattered away, and happiness surrounds me. I get lost in music, and I can not imagine my life without it. It is a huge part of who I am and always will be.

  1. Music is one of my favorite things as well. What kind of oldies do you like to listen to?
